What is Logistics?
The word "logistics" basically created in the military, being used to define troop and equipment movements within operation.It is an antique concept that can be traced back to the Greek and the Romans military and its need to supply itself with the required materials. It's became a business concept only in the1950's.
Today logistics is one of the important function in the business. Logistics is both a science and an art of managing and controlling the things for production. It's a very crucial part of marketing and management. It's comprises of various processes like information,communication, transportations, inventory, warehousing, distribution, materials handling and packaging.
Inbound logistics is one of the primary processes and it concentrates on purchasing and arranging inbound movement of materials, parts and/or finished inventory from suppliers to manufacturing or assembly plants, warehouses or retail stores.
Outbound logistics is the process related to the storage and movement of the final product and the related information flows from the end of the production line to the end user.
